Fall Signing Week '14: Grayson Broadus to Notre Dame
Share:

Grayson Broadus of Carrollton, Texas, a five-star recruit, is a real fighter.

Grayson Broadus has committed to Notre Dame
For the last six months, Broadus has been dealing with a fractured hand, a hurt back, and a strained shoulder. But, being the fighter that he is, Broadus is back in action. Appropriately, Broadus made a commitment to become a member of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's tennis team.

"It feels amazing to have the rest of my life planned out now," said Broadus, who trains at the highly respected Austin Tennis Academy. "I just have to work hard for good things to happen, and I am super motivated. I was nervous about my recruiting process when that stuff happened, but I couldn't have chosen a better school. I am so excited to be part of the Fighting Irish!"

Broadus really went through the ringer. He was in a brace for 12 weeks and couldn't hold anything. The regimen also included physical therapy for his shoulder. But it's time for Broadus to move on, and he will head to Notre Dame.

The Irish are led by head coach Ryan Sachire, a 2000 Notre Dame graduate. He has led the program since July 2013, after serving two seasons as an assistant coach and five as associate head coach. During his first season at the helm, Sachire guided Notre Dame to an NCAA Division I Sweet 16 appearance.

Broadus, ranked No. 55 in the Athletic DNA Class Rankings and No. 5 in Texas, took a serious look at Texas A&M and Wake Forest, but ultimately selected the revered Indiana institution.

"Notre Dame was the best overall fit, with the coaches and the culture of the school," Broadus said. "It is a great learning environment. The people are all supportive and caring. Plus, it's a small school. I would do better in it since that's what I am used to. Notre Dame will give me lots of opportunities to do well after college."
