KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Emory senior Jonathan Jemison capped his career with two national titles, adding the Division III men’s singles title to the team title he won four days earlier, while Emory sophomore Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico closed out a perfect Division III season with the women’s singles championship at Kalamazoo College’s Stowe Stadium.

Zoo Tennis The individual tournament began as the team tournament had, with matches sent indoors due to rain. With the first two rounds of singles and the first round of doubles all packed into the first day of the three-day event, several doubles matches extended past 10 p.m.
The second day, which features the singles quarterfinals and semifinals as well as the second round of doubles, produced the most significant upsets. Top men’s seed Nikolai Parodi of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps fell to Washington University-St. Louis’s Bernardo Neves in the quarterfinals, and both No. 2 seeds, CMS’s Catherine Allen and defending champion Grant Urken of Bowdoin, went out in the semifinals. Unseeded Venia Yeung of Wesleyan defeated Allen 6-2, 6-2 and unseeded Leo Vithoontien of Carleton came from a set and a break down to defeat Urken 2-6, 7-6(3), 6-2 to earn their places in the final.
