Coaching a Major Influence in Snyder Committing to UCF
Share:

Jeff Puhan saw the physical tools for potential success right away. He believed Quinn Snyder had the size, speed and athletic ability to beat higher-level opponents.

But it was the mental struggles that needed the most work. Puhan had to get Snyder to overcome his own insecurities.

“I knew if I had some time and could expose him to the right people, I could make him believe that he belonged out there on the court with the best in the country,” said Puhan, who began working Snyder a little more than a year ago. “That is kind of what happened. He has slowly start believing in himself. He is starting to feel like he belongs.”

Snyder is hoping to continue his development in college. The five-star senior from Delran, New Jersey committed to the University of Central Florida because he wanted to play for head coach John Roddick and his staff.

“The No. 1 reason I am going there is the coaches. John Roddick is a really nice guy and I think he believes in me a lot as a tennis player,” Snyder said. “I think he has seen a lot of the best tennis levels in the world and I think he thinks I am capable of reaching a really high level as long as I work hard every single day.”
