Roundup
Ava Ignatowich (Delray Beach, Florida)
Three-star junior Ava Ignatowich credits her determination for her recent results. “It was a conscious choice I made to put in a greater effort during training,” she said. “I have been working really hard in the gym as well, and I believe that getting stronger has helped me win more matches recently.”

Ignatowich works with coach Freddy Rodriguez in Boca Raton, Florida. Recently, the two have been working toward developing a more assertive game.
“My coach has been helping me with transitioning my game as a counter-puncher into a more aggressive player,” Ignatowich said. “He has been teaching me how to finish points rather than play defensively. He also makes sure I have good practice matches to play with a variety of opponents.”
Ignatowich considers her mental game to be her biggest strength. “My coach points out that I am able to keep an even temperament throughout a match regardless of circumstances,” she said. “I don't get too down on myself, and I had a lot of wins in January after losing the first set.”
