Once it came time for coaches to contact Leach last June, the blue chip junior immediately heard from TCU head coach David Roditi.
Leach’s top five came down to TCU, Texas, USC, Georgia and Ohio State. He took visits to Texas, TCU and USC before deciding to commit to the Horned Frogs earlier this week.
“After seeing those three schools, I really liked the fact TCU was a smaller school and I could kind of be a medium-sized fish in a medium-sized pound rather than a small fish in a massive pond,” the 16-year-old Leach said. “I loved the campus and really like the culture there. Coach Roditi and Coach (Devin) Bowen are both great and they have done a lot of great things for the program.”
Leach, the son of former Grand Slam champion Lindsay Davenport and USC All-American Jon Leach, wanted to make his commitment to college as early as possible.
“I didn’t totally enjoy the process of me talking to a lot of these different coaches and going on these recruiting trips,” said Leach, who plans to arrive at TCU in the fall of 2025. “It was just something I wanted to make a decision about, so it would never really be in the back of my mind lingering while I am playing a match or while I am gone at a tournament somewhere.”
