The first time Abigail Solomon emailed Belmont University head coach Maurcio Anton, she never heard back. But Solomon was undeterred. The Knoxville, Tennessee native remained persistent in her pursuit of a response.

Solomon figured Antun was likely extremely busy since he coaches both programs at Belmont. A short time later, Solomon sent another email. Within 30 minutes of sending the second email, Antun emailed Solomon back and they arranged a phone call.
“He actually said during that first conversation that we had good energy together and it's really true,” Solomon said. “I wanted a coach that I could be really open with about my tennis and that I feel like really understands me, and I feel that way with him."
The coach, the proximity and the education were all factors that led Solomon to commit to Belmont. The four-star rising senior took official and unofficial visits to the campus in nearby Nashville and felt comfortable in the environment.
"Nashville is a really cool city and the campus is really close to downtown," Solomon said. "I am also close enough to home to see my parents on the weekend if I want and they can come visit and watch me play as well."
