A few days after Nicole Ridenour made a campus visit to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a package arrived in the mail at her home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Inside Ridenour found 10 handwritten letters from players on RPI’s team. They said how nice it was to meet her, how excited they would be if she joined the program and provided their phone numbers in case she had any other questions.

The gesture solidified Ridenour’s initial feelings about attending RPI. The three-star senior sent a text message to head coach Justin Roe that night letting him know she was committing to the Division III school in Troy, New York.
“It was the most amazing thing anyone has ever done,” Ridenour said of the letters. “I loved them so much and it really made me want to be on a college team even more.”
