Two pieces of advice most athletes receive during their college recruiting process are: 1) commit to a school and not a coach, and 2) make sure you would still be happy there if you got injured and could no longer play.

Luka Butera is glad he considered both when he committed to the University of Pennsylvania.
Since the five-star senior from New Jersey made his decision a few months ago, two head coaches have left the program. David Geatz announced his retirement in August, and his replacement, David DiLucia, announced last week he was stepping down for personal reasons.
“For me, it really doesn’t change that much because I still chose a school I love,” Butera said. “I am still super excited to go there and want to be a member of the team.”
Butera found out about DiLucia’s departure from a few of his future Penn teammates about 30 minutes after they were told the news
“I am kind of taking it day-by-day and seeing what happens and getting informed when I can,” Butera said. “I still have faith. I think there is going to be a very good new coach coming in who is really going to try and push the team in a good way. I think they will find the right person.”
