The third-seeded UChicago women defeated No. 4 Wesleyan 5-3 on Thursday and the second-seed UChicago men rallied after a weather delay to beat No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 5-4 on Friday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

UChicago is the sixth school in NCAA Division III history to win men’s and women’s titles in the same season.

UChicago (25-1) trailed 4-2 in the men’s final before a lightning delay halted play. Once the teams returned to the court, the Maroons staged a furious comeback to win the final three singles matches.

Arjun Asokumar clinched the title at No. 3 singles. After losing the first set, Asokumar trailed 5-4 in the second set before the weather delay. The senior regrouped during the break and flipped the momentum in his favor, winning the second set 7-5 and the third set 6-1 to send the Maroons into a celebration.

"During the delay, we were in a tough spot being down 2-4. We knew it was an uphill battle but knowing how gritty our team is, we knew anything was possible,” Asokumar said. “We talked about making sure to play the ball and the individual points, rather than the moment. We didn't want to play the "NCAA Championship" moment, but rather just stick to our basics each point.”
