Claire An (WTN: 17.0) was playing ITF events in Europe when college coaches could begin contacting her for recruiting. On the first day it was allowed, the Duke coaches reached out and expressed their interest.

An wanted to talk to as many schools as possible and take all of her visits. Once that was complete, Duke still remained at the front of the line.

The blue chip senior liked the plan and the resources the Duke coaching staff presented to her regarding what she could accomplish for the team and as an individual.

“I felt like going into the process, I knew kind of what I wanted and Duke really just checked all the boxes for me,” said An, who signed with the Blue Devils last December. “I really wanted a good balance of both good academics and good tennis for the future. Preferably, I wanted to be somewhere on the East Coast. I really wanted to be in a good tennis conference too. I just feel like I will have opportunities for the future at whatever I do at Duke.”
