Recruiting Update
Guzick in Crimson
by Julie Wrege, 1 January 2007
Happy New Year! TennisRecruiting.net is excited to kick off 2007 with a huge college commitment announcement from Blue Chip senior recruit Will Guzick (Greer, SC). We first profiled this impressive young man back in February, and today he is ready to make his announcement from among Harvard, Princeton, and Yale.
Guzick is one of the most highly-regarded recruits in the country because of his tennis, but he has done even more to distinguish himself in the classroom. Just take a look at some of his recent awards and distinctions:
- AP State Scholar for passing highest number of AP exams in state
- AP National Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction
- National Merit Semi-finalist
- Perfect score - 1600 - on the SAT
- Stone Scholarship for highest GPA in class
- 2006 United States Senate Youth Program Scholarship
Every high school senior in America would be proud to list any of those accomplishments on a college application.
Last July, Guzick had narrowed his field down to several Ivy League schools, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Furman. And by last summer, Guzick had selected three schools for official visits: Yale, Princeton, and Harvard. He took those three officials during consecutive weekends in September.
And now, it's showtime. Here are some excerpts from my conversation with the well-spoken young man about his college commitment.
