Micah Pierce was told about the “gut feeling” recruits get once they find the right college. Pierce knew exactly what that meant after making a trip to Memphis.

Once she returned to her hometown of New Orleans, the five-star senior canceled visits to other schools because she was ready to commit to the Tigers.

“I really paid attention to the energy while I was on my visit,” Pierce said. “I really liked how genuine and nice the coaches and team were, and I loved the facilities. They are building a new $24-million tennis facility and the school is really improving in every area and investing a lot into their athletes.”

Memphis first noticed Pierce when assistant coach Ryan Haymond was out recruiting at a sectional tournament.

“He walked past my court one day and thought I was good and came back the next few days to watch my matches,” Pierce said. “I ended up on their list right after that. So I went from not being on their list as of three months ago to now going to their school. It’s crazy.”
