Charlie Cowan was stuck without a school.
The four-star senior had committed to a program and applied for early decision, but the head coach gave the spot to another player unexpectedly.

Cowan began reaching out to the college coaches he’d spoken with previously. After hearing back from Dayton’s Ryan Meyer, they set up a quick phone call.
It didn’t take very long for Cowan to realize he wanted to be a Flyer.
"He really fosters a strong, close-knit team and that is really what I was looking for,” Cowan said. “It really was like a brotherhood when I was on campus and I just knew it was where I wanted to be right as I got there. Everyone on campus seemed really happy to be there and that was a huge plus for me."
Cowan grew up in Florida with his dad teaching tennis at a club in the Orlando area.
"Just going to work with him is how I was introduced to tennis,” Cowan said. “I was playing a bunch of different sports too, but after a while when I started taking sports more seriously I knew tennis was the right fit for me."
