Cavaliers, Tigers Take ACC Titles

To say that the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference is packed with nationally-ranked tennis teams is indeed an understatement. 21 of the 24 teams entered last weekend's ACC Championships with national rankings, and half of those teams - six men's and six women's teams - were ranked among the Top 30.

The ACC Championships moved to Florida this year, and Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs was a welcoming venue.

The location certainly agreed with the Florida teams: Florida State reached the semifinals in both the men's and women's championships, and the Miami men reached the finals.

The initial matches in the tournament were a predictor of things to come - with both of the 8/9 matches going the distance. The #8 N.C. State women defeated ninth-seeded Wake Forest 4-3, while the #8 Wolfpack men defeated #9 Georgia Tech by the same score.
