CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Historic titles were the trend of the month at the December Orange Bowls in Florida, with three of the four singles titles at the ITF 18s and 16s tournament in Plantation going to countries that had not claimed one.

That continued earlier this week at the Junior Orange Bowl in Coral Gables, with both champions in the 14s division delivering their countries first titles at the tournament, which celebrated its 61st year in 2022.
Latvia's Adelina Lachinova was certainly a dark horse coming into the event, with 11 titles in Tennis Europe and ITF Junior Circuit events in 2022, but most of the attention was focused on top seed Hannah Klugman of Great Britain and Eddie Herr champion Yihan Qu of China, the No. 2 seed
Lachinova, seeded No. 4, took out both, defeating Qu 7-6(3), 6-4 in the semifinals and Klugman 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 in the final. Klugman, who had cruised through the early stages of the tournament, with two 6-0, 6-0 victories in the round of 16 and the quarterfinals, defeated Australia's Emerson Jones, the No. 3 seed, 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals.
