Conference Highlights
The Midwest Conference is comprised of 11 schools from IL, WI, and IA.
The Knox Women's tennis is among the most competitive sports programs at Knox. Prairie Fire players consistently battle for the top standings in the South Division of the Midwest Conference.
Prairie Fire tennis emphasizes total player development. Players work on strokes and game strategy, but above all take pride in displaying exemplary sportsmanship.
The Prairie Fire have had numerous players named to the Academic All-Midwest Conference Team, keeping with the Knox tradition of combining athletics with academic excellence.
The Prairie Fire play outdoor matches on their 6 Merdian Tennis Courts in the center of campus. In addition, players can use the indoor courts in the T. Fleming Fieldhouse and Lakeside Tennis Center in Galesburg to practice during the winter and in inclement weather.
Post Season Highlights
Prairie Fire tennis players have gone on to a wide variety of successful careers. They include Annette Mandel '75 (English), who has served as the mayor of Crever Couer, Missouri. Jessica Laffey '75 (Psychology) is a teaching professional at the Aurora Tennis Club. Marcia Cornett '78 (Economics and Business Administration) is a professor and associate dean at Southern Illinois University. Medha Deoras-Sutliff '88 (Biology) is an epidemiologist for the Ohio Department of Health.
